We're here to help! Parkinson's Disease affects not only the person with the disease, but also his or her family and friends. The Capital Area Parkinson's Society (CAPS) provides those impacted by Parkinson's Disease, many of whom may know very little about their disease, a forum in which to discuss their situation with others similarly afflicted. CAPS offers carepartners a support group in which information on the care of Parkinsonians can be received and exchanged, and through which the needs of the care partner can be addressed. In addition, CAPS provides a forum for the discussion and dissemination of new information on the Parkinson's Disease and related areas.

Founded in 1984 to address the needs of people with Parkinson’s disease and their carepartners, CAPS meets monthly at Riverbend Church Community Center. Meetings include a speaker whose topic relates to health or living concerns of Parkinsonians and their carepartners. Group members also have a chance to share significant happenings in their lives and/or something about Parkinson’s disease that they believe will be of interest to the group. The second half of each meeting is divided into two groups: an exercise session for those with Parkinson’s that is led by a physical therapist with music therapy; and a separate discussion group for carepartners. The Capital Area Parkinson's Society is a not-for-profit organization. It's focus is on providing local - Central Texas - support for those whom Parkinson's Disease impacts.
